CMCI names Sky Basu Chief Technology Officer

Fairfax, VA , August 13, 2012 – CMCI, a Fairfax based management consulting firm announced today the hiring of Sabyasachi “Sky” Basu as its Chief Technical Officer (CTO) and Executive Vice President. Basu will be responsible for refining CMCI’s technical strategy to extend technology leadership particularly in various technology verticals like Agile programming, mobile computing, cloud computing, and big data analytics.
“During his decades of experience as a technology entrepreneur Sky Basu has demonstrated talent in creating highly effective business applications incorporating appropriate technologies” said CMCI President & CEO, Pulak Chakrabarti. “In his new position he will bring those skills to the Government customers of CMCI, resulting in increased productivity and rapid development of new relevant features.”
Most recently Sky Basu was the CTO and Vice President of Kovair Software, a Silicon Valley based development and IT service management Tools Company. Prior to that, he spent 15 years in IT and software development consulting services providing services to various Fortune 500 corporations and Government agencies. As one of the early adopters of Internet & cloud based technology, in 1998 an Internet based business applications built under Sky’s leadership was awarded the ‘Best Intranet Solution’ by Microsoft. Sky has a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Indian Statistical Institute and Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology.
Chakrabarti Management Consultancy, Inc. (CMCI), a leading provider of technology and strategic consulting services and solutions to government organizations, on July 28, 2011 was awarded a prime vendor contract for the General Service Administration 8(a) Streamlined Technology Application Resource for Service (STARS) II Governmentwide Acquisition Contract (GWAC).
The 8(a) STARS II GWAC is designed to promote small business utilization when purchasing information technology (IT) services or IT services-based solutions for the federal government. The 8(a) STARS II program is reserved exclusively for qualifying certified 8(a) small business concerns as the prime contractors per Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 19.8.

CMCI has moved to a new location!

On October 1, 2010, CMCI moved to a new and bigger facility located in the Willow Wood Plaza, in Fairfax, VA. The plaza is near I-66 and Route 123 exchange and is within walking distances to shopping, hotels and restaurants.

With this key strategic advisory appointment, CMCI President & CEO, Pulak Chakrabarti stated, “I am pleased to have Mr. Reece join our Board of Advisors. Mr. Reece’s wide range of business experience, his strategic relationships and keen understanding of both Federal & Commercial Business dynamics will complement CMCI’s corporate governance.”
Mr. Reece is Chairman and CEO of John C. Reece & Associates, LLC, a consulting firm with several private and public sector clients including Executive Office of the President, Department of Homeland Security, Drug Enforcement Administration, Time Warner Inc., Intel and Lexmark. Previously, Mr. Reece served as Deputy Commissioner for Modernization & Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the IRS, Vice President of Information Technology at Time Warner Inc., CIO at Alexander & Alexander Services, Inc., and Managing Partner of IT Practices – at Strategic Planning Associates’ and at Booz Allen Hamilton.
Mr. Reece holds a B.A. from Northwestern University and is a Director of Exponential Storage, Inc. and a fellow of the Ponemon Institute.
Fairfax, VA , October 29, 2010 – CMCI is pleased to announce that Prof. Bimal Roy, an eminent Professor, Director of Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta , has joined CMCI’s Board of Advisors.
In this role, Prof. Roy will be assisting CMCI with the strategic direction, R&D and advanced technological roadmap of its business growth and development, gaining new business perspectives and ideas, and further enhancing CMCI’s consulting service to its clients.

In early 2009, as a direct 8(a) entity, CMCI has successfully completed the Unified Solution Architecture (USA) Phase-I for CBP EDME CTO Office. After successful completion of USA Phase-I, the CBP has awarded the Phase-II contract to CMCI.
